The flags and pennants snapped smartly in the brisk Belfast breeze and the bright May sun and sparkling sky added a festive air to the already charged atmosphere.
After interminable speeches and hours of waiting patiently for the long anticipated event, the time had finally arrived. The official command was given and the newest addition to the White Star fleet, known until now simply as hull #401, began its journey.
At exactly 13 minutes past noon, on this 31st day of May, 1911, as the assembled crowd held its breath, the largest man-made object to ever move, slipped stern-first down the greased slipway at the Harland and Wolff Shipyard in Belfast. Sixty two seconds later, amidst the roaring cheer of 100,000 spectators, the new ship thundered her 46,000 ton bulk into the Irish Sea to become the RMS Titanic.
At 852 feet and 46,000 horsepower she would become the largest, fastest, most comfortable ship afloat, and in under a year, on an April night in 1912, the most famous ship in history.
And today, after more than 90 years we are fascinated by her still...

RMS Titanic CDs
In an age of unprecedented elegance the RMS Titanic represented class and luxury, more than any other liner of its day. From the food served on its own Titanic china place settings to the grand music played by the ship's own orchestra. Now we can relive the Titanic's maiden voyage itself by listening to an historically accurate soundtrack of exactly the melodies which graced the Titanic's grand ballroom.
I have been able to obtain a few RMS Titanic music compilations, in CD format, but numbers are very limited.
The Titanic Serenade CD features an historically accurate chronology of the actual music selections played during the 104 hours of the liners brief voyage, from departure at Southampton to Ireland and beyond. Includes selections Jeanie with the Light Brown Hair, Londonderry Air, Beautiful Dreamer, To a Wild Rose and other tunes of a by gone era.
14 music selections, complete with three pages of researched historical data with illustrations and photos. New, unopened in package.

10 musical selections, including My heart Will Go On, the love theme from the motion picture Titanic.
