Durability Unlike photographs, if protected from light and dampness, your portrait in watercolor can last forever. Watercolors by Albrecht Dürer painted on paper in the 1500's survive today, as do Chinese works, dating from the 8th century. Your original watercolor is rendered on acid-free, 140 lb musuem quality, 100% rag paper to ensure long-term stability. Made in France by Arches et Cie, since the year 1492. Each work is signed and dated by my hand, and a dedication or text of your choice can be inscribed on the reverse side as well, if you wish. ![]() Himalayan Sunset - View from Sete I can also...custom paint your favorite scenic view in any size or format you'd like, either to match your taste or requirements, or to fit a special nitch on the living room wall. Or that antique frame you've been saving for something really special. For custom sizes, or different formats, please just send me a query.

For birthdays, anniversaries, or graduations. Retirements, or Christmas. Or simply to say I Love You. A watercolor landscape, or seascape, is one of the most unusual and unique gifts you can give. The perfect gift for your parent's anniversary. A friend's retirement. Or to help capture your daughter's memories from her trip-of-a-lifetime. Dig out a treasured favorite photo, or send me the view you have in mind, and I'll transform it into a memorable, full-sized watercolor, custom-painted to your tastes.

Your Own Custom Watercolor Unlike
photography, watercolor painting places me in the enviable
position of being able to make artistic refinements to
your original photograph by adding to, deleting from, or
making alterations to the finished painting. Don't like the
background in your original snapshot? I can add a new one
from a second photograph you provide, like that graceful
weeping willow, or palm tree that perhaps you've always wanted in the
back yard... Or I can simply
delete the unwanted background, or foregound, highlighting the
view in a vignette format. Unsightly power
poles, street lights or buildings can all be deleted from
your outdoor photographs, leaving the emphasis on the view you want.

Saint John from the Signal - After 1815 Nostalgic Sepia, Old-fashioned Black-and-White Just like an old sepia photograph can take us back to the nostalgia of another time and place, watercolors have the marvelous ability to impart dreamy visions, and portray subtle moods when rendered in monochromes. Painting in one-dimensional color always fascinates me, and using these instant mood- and era-setting abilities, I can convert your color snapshot into the antiqued warmth of sepia, or the muted tones of black-and-white, as in my watercolors Saint John from the Signal, above, and Sunday Morning, Grand Manan, below. I can even render your watercolor in monochrome, with a highlight in full color! Just tell me what you'd like, and I'm sure I can custom paint to suit your tastes. To see examples of how I have used these techniques with sepia, black-and-white, and patina, please click here for a glimpse, on my Story Illustrations page. As you can see, watercolors possess the ability to express an infinite variety of visions and emotions, and can be rendered in almost any monochrome combination imaginable. I should mention in addition, that by using the reverse process, I can also convert your antique sepia or black-and-white photographs to a full-color custom watercolor. Or I can simply paint it as the photo was taken, years ago.

"I just finished carefully opening your multilayered packing and viewed the portrait for the first
time. All I can say is "Wow!!!"
This is indeed a work of art that we will treasure for our lifetime.
Again -- "Wow!!!!!" I really didn't realize watercolor works could be so absolutely breathtaking and lifelike.
You are one terrific artist with a very special gift. My wife will be thrilled beyond words when I present this special gift to her."
H. Elliot Washington
"We received your artwork yesterday and were absolutely "blown away" by it's beauty. You have a wonderful gift and it is so nice of you to share it. We can not wait to present it to my parents, hopefully sometime this weekend. I have told all of my coworkers about it and would not be surprised if you got at least one other order from someone here in
Virginia."
Eric and Mary S. Virginia
"I got the painting! I was so excited to see
the box on my doorstep today! Thank you so much,
it looks wonderful! The detail is so good and I can
tell it took you much time and concentration! My parents
will be soooooo surprised!
Thanks again,"

"WOW, I am overwhelmed with all the work you have put into this. I am thrilled with the results. It is a great rendering of our home here and I am amazed that you could capture the lush feel of the island from just a photo. I can't wait to give it to my husband!"
Deana M. Georgia
"My husband wasn't surprised, he was SHOCKED. What I did, I
just hung up the picture in our foyer and let him "discover" it. He couldn't
believe his eyes. Looks great, and you actually got out of
that photograph more than I thought was possible. Thank you very much."
